Our mission is to practice, promote, and preserve the art of choral music and the legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach.

On behalf of all at the Bach Festival Society of Kalamazoo, thank you for visiting our Razoo page. Contributions to our organization are very important for continuing our work in the community —to practice, promote, and preserve the art of choral music and the legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach.

If you recently attended our presentation of Chanticleer at Chenery Auditorium, you were part of an audience of over 1,200 music lovers and enthusiasts. You may have even noticed that just under half (around 500!) of attendees were students. Due to the support of local businesses, foundations, and individuals like you, we are able to keep the price of tickets accessible for both students and our adult patrons. According to a parent from Grand Haven, “We were able to bus our choir of over 70 students to the concert because student tickets are so affordable.”

Gifts to our Bach Legacy Fund allow us to bring international caliber vocal ensembles, such as Chanticleer, to our community. In addition, your gift helps to support our self-produced concerts that feature our 70-member Bach Festival Chorus.

In fact, Maestro James Turner, along with Chorus and Orchestra, will perform Bach’s Magnificat on Sunday, December 2 at our 42nd Annual BachFest Christmas! at Stetson Chapel. Additionally, we are looking forward to our collaboration with the Kalamazoo Philharmonia on June 1, 2013, when we perform Luigi Cherubini’s Requiem in C Minor and Ravel’s Suite from Daphnis and Chloe.

Lastly, your gift is important to us because it allows us to bring valuable educational and outreach events to our community. Specifically, our 15th Annual High School Choral Festival serves ten Michigan high school choirs in an all-day choral workshop featuring a distinguished clinician. After every festival, participating students and their directors express their thanks for making this event available to their schools at no cost. Our education and outreach programs impact over 1,000 students ranging from elementary school through college ages.

Your support is very important to us. Gifts to the Bach Legacy Fund help us to make ticket prices accessible and allow us to provide valuable choral music outreach in our community. We hope you will consider making a gift this year. Your contribution would be truly appreciated!

Since 1946, the Bach Festival Society has benefited from the kindness and generosity of individuals like you. Through your continued support, we hope to practice, promote and preserve the art of choral music for many more years to come.
