All team members of Hot Rod's Hustlers have two common goals: cross the finish line and raise money for LLS.
I am running in the Country Music Marathon and ½ Marathon on April 28th. As I have been training and fighting through my long runs, what keeps me going is thinking of all the people who are suffering (and have suffered) from deadly diseases such as lymphoma and leukemia. My thoughts as I feel the pain is if they can fight for their lives, I can fight through the miles necessary to take me to the end of my short journey.
Two years ago my brother, A. D., and I formed Hot Rod's Hustler's in honor of my sweet, amazing, incredible dad. My dad, Rodney Waits, has been battling Primary Central Nervous System (CNS) Lymphoma since July 2009. We are running to raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of him. CNS lymphoma is a very rare, very aggressive brain cancer. So far, Dad has beaten all the odds, and we are thankful for all the research being done for leukemias and lymphomas.
If you are unable to donate money, please lift your prayers up for Dad and all the others who are fighting these horrible and devastating diseases. You can follow Dad's progress through the caring bridge site- http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/rodneywaits
