ASIST is a certified program that prepares caregivers of all backgrounds to provide suicide "first aid" to persons at risk of suicide.
Every year more people die by suicide than from ALL of the several armed conflicts around the world, and, in many places, about the same or more than those dying in traffic accidents. For every suicide, there may be up to 100 times MORE who are injured by non-fatal suicidal behaviors. Seniors have the highest suicide completion rate of any age group! How can further deaths and injuries be prevented? ASIST can help!
HSI-Crisis Connection is offering ASIST to members of the caregiving community in order to enable more people to offer suicide "first aid" to those at risk. This intervention training includes attitudes, knowledge, skills, and resources, presented in two days of interactive, practical training conducted in both small and large groups. Caregivers include family, friends, healthcare professionals, educators, clergy, and anyone else interested in helping those at risk of suicide.
If you would like to participate in this training, please explore the information on our website at www.crisis.org.
Your support will help fund the training and make it possible for us to keep registration costs low, especially for students. CEU credits will apply.
