ASD Inc. fundraising for Capital Area Food Bank
An annual design competition in which cans of food are used as building blocks, then donated to the Capital Area Food Bank.
The team with the most "votes" wins the People's Choice Award. One dollar = one vote. Support your favorite team by donating here. Voting ends 9:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8th.
Sponsored by the Washington Architectural Foundation and the Society for Design Administration, Canstruction D.C. uses one can of food as a catalyst for change; one can to represent the building blocks of massive sculptures; one can to prove that every act of kindness makes a difference.
Each year, D.C.-area teams comprising architects, engineers, builders, and students combine creativity and philanthropy, using cans of food to construct elaborate buildings, sculptures, and vignettes. All projects are put on display, and the public is invited to vote for their favorites by donating cans of food. When the event is complete, the structures are broken down and all cans of food used by the teams and donated by the public are given to the Capital Area Food Bank for distribution to those in need.
To date, Canstruction D.C. has donated more than 250 tons of food.
