This Spring Break, I will be traveling to Biloxi, Mississippi to help rebuild post Katrina. I am volunteering through United Way.

We all remember the horrific images shown repeatedly on the television after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. Perhaps even more disturbing is the fact that so much work still needs to be done to rebuild over four years later. Barack Obama once said, “It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get to where we are today, but we have just begun. Today we begin in earnest the work of making sure that the world we leave our children is just a little bit better than the one we inhabit today.” So, although thousands have already volunteered, and millions of dollars have been donated, more help is still needed.

That is why this spring break, I will be traveling to Biloxi, Mississippi to help rebuild with United Way. We will be rebuilding houses, meeting with the citizens, and doing general clean up work. Any contributions raised will go to covering the cost of transportation as well as United Way program fee for meals, housing, supplies and tools. Thank you so much for your help!
