With your support, here are some of the “what we will be doing that counts” in 2011 –
ARTS EDUCATION
TOTAL ARTS DAY CAMP – RAC will celebrate TADC’s 40th Anniversary and serve scores of K-8 students by providing another summer of individual and group art-making projects
COLLABORATIONS
BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF ROCHESTER – This RAC photography project – “Adolescence Through the Lens” – works with B&GCR members, ages 9-18. It introduces a brief history of photographs, teaches camera and photography basics, asks the children to take photos with disposable cameras on the themes of self portrait, family, neighborhood, and dreams, and concludes with a photo exhibition at RAC
COMMUNITY
NEW GALLERY SPACE – RAC will create a new 3rd floor gallery and exhibition program, highlighting the work of local artists.
EXHIBITIONS
RACHEL KHEDOORI – The Iraq Book Project is Khedoori’s compilation of world-wide online news articles with the search terms Iraq, Iraqi or Baghdad in the title. Translated into English and dated chronologically from the Iraq war’s start date – and theoretically could continue indefinitely– the articles are complied into large books on tall tables, creating a sculptural exhibition that presents a complex of words exposing an experience beyond words.
