As you may know, I am participating as a board member of the South Peninsula Jewish Teen Foundation (SPJTF). This foundation is made up of 23 Jewish teens from our community that work to give grants to various non-profit organizations around the world. I got involved with the SPJTF just this year, but already it has affected me so much. I participated in a retreat earlier this year, in which I got to see firsthand how just a small amount of effort can make a tremendous difference. We got to meet with people who had been through heartbreaking circumstances and had been helped. I’m extremely passionate about this foundation and what we do because it’s absolutely selfless and truly serves to help the greater good.
On the board, we learn to utilize ourselves and get involved in helping the community, even if it’s not local. I have always been very passionate about human rights and access to health and shelter for all, and our focus this year is just that. This year, our mission is to:
“Fund programs that provide and support the advocacy of health and shelter for disadvantaged populations including, but not limited to, those in the Bay Area and Israel. Our focus will be on programs that empower individuals to help themselves.”
All of us on the board have researched organizations that match our mission statement and thoroughly discussed what our goals are and we are now reviewing proposals sent in by the non-profits.
I am writing to ask you to donate towards this important work and to help us reach our goal of $72,000 for this year. My personal goal is to raise $3,000. Some may say it is an ambitious goal but I truly think that it can be achieved and especially with your help. I am donating $100 out of my own funds to help this foundation and I hope you will join me in making a donation.
Whatever you feel comfortable giving is highly appreciated and no donation is too small. Your donation is tax deductible and every dollar you donate will be doubled with a dollar for dollar match of up to $11,000. Some donation range possibilities could be $36-$180. We know these are tough economic times, but we still want to help people who have even less. Our priority deadline for all the donations is March 28th, 2012. Your donation will not only help those in need, but at the same time inspire me and our fellow board members to continue the important work of philanthropy throughout our lives.
Thank you so much for your time, and I wish you a happy and healthy year.
