This team is running to raise awareness and support for Disaster Accountability Project in memory of Richard A. Bruno.
I'm Anna Bruno and a sophomore at Catholic University in Washington, DC. I'm currently studying psychology and eventually want to do forensic psychology and forensic sciences.
I became an intern for Disaster Accountability Project in January of 2011 and I've loved working with this organization.
As many of you know, my dad, as well as another professor and four students, were killed in the Haiti earthquake in January 2010, while on a mission trip with Food for the Poor. My dad, the other victims killed and the survivors went down there to make a difference. I want to continue their efforts to bring changes to Haiti and to bring awareness to the public about how to help countries after they've suffered from natural disasters and what needs to be done in order to help these countries before disaster strikes.
DAP decided to run the Marine Corps 1/2 when I told Ben about the tradition my dad and sisters started two years ago. Thanksgiving of 2009 was one of our last holidays with our dad. He was an avid runner in his 30s and 40s and continued running and biking later on. In order to be able to eat more on Thanksgiving afternoon, my dad decided to enter us into the Turkey Trot. So him, my sisters, and myslef ran the Turkey Trot in North Carolina together. We've made that a tradition for every Thanksgiving to come and DAP is running this 1/2 marathon in honor of my dad, who ran the full Marine Corps Marathon in 1998.
With your help we can raise money to help countries after natural disasters. Please donate and see how far your contributions go.
