An Artist-Run and Artist-Focused Organization

For the past year I have been a Gallery Director Intern at Altered Esthetics, a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization and community art space in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. As a recent college graduate in a stagnant economy, this internship has allowed me to gain invaluable professional experience in non-profit arts administration, grantsmanship, and exhibition management that is very hard to find anywhere else. In the past 6 years, Altered Esthetics has served over 1,400 artists as well as the Twin Cities community at large through our monthly exhibitions schedule, workshops, internship opportunities, community partnerships, and more. I am so proud to be a part of this endeavor that I have volunteered to join the Board of Directors as Group Exhibitions Director for 2011-2013.

2011 is going to be a great year for Ae, and we hope you will be a part of it. In addition to our 14-show exhibition schedule, we’re also installing a new solo exhibitions program to help local emerging artists. To preserve our databases and accounting system we need to purchase a new computer—we’ve been using the same computer since 2004! With more than 5,000 people coming through our doors each year, our facilities require maintenance, paint and lights, details that will enhance the quality, professionalism and warmth of our exhibitions.
