AMERICAN SIGN MUSEUM
The American Sign Museum reflects the richness of the sign industry and its contribution to commerce and the American landscape.
As editor and publisher of Signs of the Times magazine, Tod Swormstedt often visited sign shops and communities across the country. He was saddened to see so many iconic signs and cultural treasures being thrown away, and determined to preserve the rich history of signs and the sign industry that has contributed so much to American business, technology, and culture.
With the help of family and friends in the industry, Tod began his quest in 1999, and opened the American Sign Museum in April, 2005.
It was immediately apparent that the rented space was too small to house the museum's potential. We soon purchased an historic factory building and have slowly been rehabbing it to house the permanent home of the American Sign Museum.
Your contribution supports acquiring and restoring signs, as well as ongoing operations and community programs. And contributions of $35 or more entitle you to a one-year museum membership.
