Amber fundraising for Team Milestone CrossFit

Milestone CrossFit is doing more than just a workout, they’re teaming up with Mammograms In Action (MIA), a Southern California based non-profit, to host a unique athletic competition called Barbells for Boobs - Amazing “Grace” to raise funds in the fight against breast cancer, both locally and nationwide.

On Saturday, October 29th CrossFit athletes from around Hutto, TX will be gathering at Milestone CrossFit 641 W Front St, Hutto, TX 78634 to complete a very special workout named “Grace” per the CrossFit training program. The workout consists of 30 Clean & Jerks for time (a ground to overhead weightlifting movement) in the form of a fun and competitive event involving people from all levels of fitness and athletic ability. “The desire to do something proactive and positive for women and men needing better screening, including mammograms, is the only prerequisite,” the organizers report.

Beginning two years ago with just one location on one day, Amazing Grace has grown rapidly. In 2010, the landmark event spread to 5 countries and 42 U.S. states with participation from over 5,000 athletes resulting in over $300,000 in fundraising and gaining sponsorship from Reebok and The CrossFit Journal. The 2011 Amazing Grace events will be bigger than ever and plan to exceed fundraising goals with an exciting Pink Bra Tour of 16 cities across 14 states in 31 days during the month of October.

“We are so excited to be one of the hosting gyms for this event.” says Amber McCue, co-founder and coach for Milestone CrossFit. “We wanted to combine a charity fundraiser with our first year anniversary celebration.”

Milestone CrossFit invites athletes, their families, friends and the Hutto community to join them at this fundraiser/anniversary celebration. There will be a jumper for kids as well as a Halloween costume contest. Activities include a Free Community workout, kids workout followed by the charity competition.
