Last year I accepted a challenge to join a group of runners who were participating in the Disney Princess Marathon. This amazing team was running to raise money for Rett Syndrome research. Made up of moms, dads, family members, and just good hearted people, the group raised over $70,000 for the cause.

My granddaughter is Grace. Grace has Rett Syndrome, a neurodevelopmenal disorder that affects girls almost exclusively. It is characterized by normal early growth and development followed by a slowing of development, loss of purposeful use of the hands, distinctive hand movements, slowed brain and head growth, problems with walking, seizures, and intellectual disability. Rett Syndrome is a potentially REVERSIBLE disorder. Research has proven once protein levels are back to normal levels, symptoms subside.
