Please support the work of United Way ASB Biloxi as we support the recovery efforts from Hurricane Katrina.

For the second year in a row I will have the opportunity to participate as a Team Leader with United Way's Alternative Spring Break program. Last year my experience in Detroit, Michigan was one that I will never forget, and I hope to have another great experience in Biloxi, Mississippi March 28 - April 3, 2010. This will be my second trip to the Gulf Coast for recovery efforts since Hurricane Katrina. I first traveled to New Orleans in January of 2008 with a group of students from Willamette University to work on the rebuilding efforts. The people I met, the devastation that I saw, and the service I was involved in have forever created in me a passion for rebuilding the Gulf Coast. Today, almost 4.5 years after Hurricane Katrina hit, the need for recovery efforts, volunteers, and resources remains great. And in the face of so many other natural disasters around the world, we must not forget about the needs that still exist in the Gulf Coast, even though the hurricane for so many of us seems a distant memory.

Trips such as United Way's ASB program do not come without a great deal of expense, mostly resulting from the cost of volunteer travel, housing, meals, and supplies. Please help support my work in the Gulf Coast by financially supporting my efforts. Whatever you can give will help - $1 or $100.
