“People who work together will win, whether it be against complex football defenses, or the problems of modern society.” -Vince Lombardi

While I always wanted to run the Boston Marathon I knew very little about the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester. These past few months I have spent time at the club and with the kids. This club is so important to these kids; it is not just a place for the kids to go (which is so important in and of itself), but the kids are introduced to more than 200 programs such as music, the arts, sports, and mentoring that most certainly changes the direction of their lives. It is such a positive place for them.

In these times, where childhood obesity is so prevalent, these kids even take cooking classes at the Kid's Cafe! How great is that!?!

Donors like you and me keep the club affordable so that cost is never a factor for a child seeking out the club. I enourage you to visit their site to learn more about the life altering work they do for the kids: www.bgcdorchester.org

My goal is to raise $5,000...hopefully with your help we can make this happen, so please, help me help these kids and this awesome program!

Check back in on the site frequently to tell me to put down the cannolis and get my running shoes on! Haha! With your help, I can do this...all 26.2 grueling miles ;-) And with your help, these kids are going to be SUPAH STARS! Thank You, Thank You!!!

Alissa, I very much admire your guts and determination to run despite your foot injury. Keep going my dear; not even the sky can be the limit. You have limitless potential and you are only at the beginning of tapping into it, so keep it up. You inspire me! You will always be my angel that I met in Boston. With love,

Yo Chumba, put down the cannoli and hit the bricks!!! ;-). Very cool and inspirational of you for doing this, Alissa. If the going gets tough during your 26.2 just remember that "nothing you do for a child is ever wasted (G. Keillor)". And when you finish, why not just pull a Forrest Gump and keep on running all the way out here to LA for a victory celebration with me?!?! FORZA ALISSA SEMPRE!!!
