embrace. Engage. EMPOWER alumni from our interACT Mentoring Program beyond their high school years.
Dawood Van Der Fort is the first ACT alumni being sponsored for his college studies in Business Management at the College of Cape Town. A former gang leader, he graduated from our program in 2009, attended one year of college then could not go on for his second year because of finances. We want to continue to empower our alumni beyond the mentoring program. We launched this program with the help of several former mentors and Dawood has re-commenced his studies in July for the second semester. In a message to us shortly before classes began he said, "Thank you very much: I'm so excited to start college. I can't wait and can you thank all the guys from ACT who helped you. It means a lot to me to have this opportunity again"
More than 40 students have completed the interACT Mentoring Program over the past three years. Several of these students are in college or desiring to attend, but financial limitations prevent that reality. Unlike many Americans, a bank will not give them a loan to continue their education. Might you be willing to help make this dream come true for them?
