Accountability Counsel assists communities around the world to defend their environmental and human rights.
Imagine you lived in an indigenous village in rural Mexico and you knew that an internationally-financed hydropower project was about to change your way of life and deny you access to clean water. Accountability Counsel works with such communities to assert their environmental and human rights through complaints to the accountability offices tied to international financial institutions. We assist communities through dispute resolution processes and efforts to hold banks and institutions to their own rules. Our policy advocacy works to ensure that the accountability offices around the world are transparent, accessible and effective tools for justice.
