"INSPIRE" Capital Campaign to support The All-American Boys Chorus Artistic Vision.
Please donate today to The All-American Boys Chorus Holiday Appeal, which is an important part of our $200,000 INSPIRE Capital Campaign!
This year the Chorus celebrates forty-two years of serving thousands of boys with an oustanding music education and leadership training program. We hear from AABC alumni nearly every day, and they recount how the music education, leadership opportunities, concert and tour experiences they acquired with us helped them excel in high school and college and into their adult years. A note from one of our Section (Part) Leaders who is graduating from the Chorus this December states it very well:
“I have really seen myself grow and consider myself truly part of the AABC family. I have made many wonderful friendships, trained to be self-disciplined, shared many awesome trips, and most of all, learned the value of being a Part Leader and being a role model to the younger Red, Blue, and White shirts. It has been an amazing experience and I'm so glad that my parents brought me to the Chorus approximately 5 years ago.
So, after attending almost 500 AABC activities, I have decided to graduate from the chorus at the end of this Christmas season. However, I will still love to sing and will be looking foward to coming back to the AABC as an alumni.
My deepest thanks to you and the entire AABC staff for all these years of patience and teaching. Thank you for having faith in me as a Part Leader and allowing me to sometimes stumble and make mistakes. It has been a superb experience.”
The 500 AABC activities this young man attended in his 5-year career as a chorister include rehearsals, voice lessons, recording sessions for Cartoon Network, music reading classes, three summer music camps; and over 100 concerts throughout California and on 3 tours of Canada and USA Midwest and South.
Truly the AABC is a life-changing experience; giving each boy valuable skills and experiences, and teaching him the connection between hard work and success; benefitting him, and our community and society, throughout his life.
Early this year our board of directors, in consultation with Michael Kaiser, President of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, began crafting a Strategic Plan to support a new, dynamic and bold 5-Year Artistic Vision for the AABC.
A few highlights:
- Expansion and updating of our repertoire so we remain competitive in the convention and corporate markets, but can also serve concert and classical presenters.
- Exploration of new musical singing styles.
- Acquiring a 2nd (more “hip”) concert uniform for outdoor or “informal” performances.
- Launching a graduate chorus, different from, and in addition to, our alumni chorus. The graduate chorus will be for choristers who want to stay and continue receiving the AABC’s superb music education and vocal training through their high school years.
- More collaborations with regional performing groups and organizations, like the Pacific Chorale, Pacific Symphony, Orange County School of the Arts, PBS SoCal, and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.
Indeed truly SEISMIC work is being done to solidify, develop, expand and project The All-American Boys Chorus into a brighter and more exciting future.
And it’s for that brighter and exciting future that I ask for your donation to our Holiday Appeal, which is part of our 7-month $200,000 INSPIRE Capital Campaign.
And here’s wonderful news! Already our board members and the wonderful people who attended our November Fall Gala, have raised over $53,000!
Our goal for the Holiday Appeal is to raise $22,000 by December 31st. Added to the $53,000 already raised it will bring our Campaign total to $75,000.
Please help us better serve each boy in our program—as well as many many more boys in the years to come—with the best in new and bold programming, the best music education programs, unsurpassed performance opportunities and extraordinary leadership training!
