It’s Time to Build A Wider Bridge
A Wider Bridge’s mission is to inspire LGBTQ Jews to deepen their Jewish identity through connection with Israel and to strengthen LGBTQ Jewish and Israeli communities through international collaboration.
Programs:
Education and Cultural Programming: We bring Israeli LGBTQ leaders and speakers to the U.S. for dialogue, exchange, and education about Israeli LGBTQ life and issues.
College programs: Working will Hillel and other groups, we will be bringing speakers, performers, and other resources on Israeli LGBTQ culture and society to college campuses.
Travel and Exchange: We are working with partner organizations to create more ways for LGBTQ Jews and allies to experience Israel, and to learn about and engage with Israeli LGBTQ society while in Israel.
Advocacy and Philanthropy: We are creating opportunities for people in the U.S. to learn about and support Israeli LGBTQ organizations and efforts.
Values:
Israel – We believe that Israel can be a source of strength and inspiration to all Jews, and that all Jews have a stake in the past and future of the Jewish homeland. We believe there is a unique and powerful connection that LGBTQ Jews can have with Israel.
Engagement – We believe in the intrinsic value of being in the conversation, of building relationships, of people learning about each other, sharing, and working together.
Pluralism – We are open to a wide range of political perspectives and religious views. We promote the welcoming and inclusion of people of all sexualities and gender identities. We aspire to a world in which the lives of all people are celebrated.
Communal Responsibility – Kol Yisrael Arevim Zeh BaZeh (All Israel is responsible for one another) – We believe all Jews share a fundamental connection, and we see our work as part of the broader project of building creative new relationships among the Jewish people globally.
Justice – We believe we are all obligated to do our part to create a better world, and we seek to empower LGBTQ Jews to be agents of social change in Israel, throughout the global Jewish community, and beyond.
