Your support will provide jobs for participants with disabilities and those underemployed working with an AccessAbility product line.

In 2010, AccessAbility served over 600 individuals in our programs. All of the participants we serve are of low income and dependent on us to earn a paycheck.

AccessAbility provides paid training and work for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Whether it is our production facility or at area businesses our lean sales staff is searching for contracts to gain work for particpants. Packaging and assembly, kitting or mailing are just a few of the work projects we provide for our program particpants.

Business services sales at AccessAbility for last year were a challenge in 2010 and continue during these tough times. AccessAbility looked for creative opportunities through outsourcing business and government contracts to fulfill our main goal, providing work for people in our community. Most importantly, AccessAbility’s business services sales provided diverse work opportunities and new skill sets for individuals with disabilities and other barriers that resulted in average wages increasing. While AccessAbility worked hard to grow new customers, we realized that we needed to assure work for our participants. Economic hardships hit people on the fringe. Managers and the Board made a strategic decision to develop a business or product that would give us more control of our workflow.

AccessAbility had been doing assembly work for Imagine Design, a framed artwork and gift business. We made the decision in late 2008 to secure the assets of this business that allows AccessAbility to provide over 35,000 hours of full-time stable work annually to participants in our programs. All of the proceeds go back into this program.

We are very proud to say that people with disabilities and other barriers to employment make all of these products in the USA at AccessAbility. Participants learn skill sets from glass cutting, die-cutting and order fulfillment to inventory management and assembly. It is a perfect fit for AccessAbility. We specifically control the design of the products to create work for people with disabilities. John, who lives with autism, loves his work helping create Imagine Design products. He takes pride in making the handles for the beads and baubles line of merchandise. He carefully strings the beads on wires to make the finished product. Gene has cerebral palsy, which has caused him limited vision and minimal control of his hands. He enjoys taking part by hand painting stars that are glued to a frame for the “ You are my Star “ product line.

We thank you for supporting the people in this program. Imagine Design products are produced at AccessAbility and all are made by people with specials needs.
