A Pair of Shoes for War Affected Students in Sri Lanka

In May 2009, government of Sri Lanka declared a victory over LTTE, a rebel group. The victory for the government came after 26 years of brutal civil war. During these years thousands of people were killed, millions displaced and infrastrature were destroyed. By May 2009, about 300,000 people were displaced out of their homes. For months they lived in camps around nothern Sri Lanka. They are now returning their communities to find homes turn into rubbles, schools with no furniture and broken communities.

Thousands of children we were affected by the war, do not have access to basic needs such as a pair of shoes, an exercise book or a pencil.

Sarvodaya is already providing these educational resoruces to the children.

This is a campaign to provide 1,00 kids with a pair of shoes.

It costs only $8 for a pair of shoes.
