A fundraiser supporting Neighborhood House

Last year the Greek Community at the U of M donated 1,755 lbs of food to Neighborhood House; this year we're hoping to increase by 25%.

Neighborhood House works with participants to assess their basic family needs and identify how to obtain them. Neighborhood House services include the culturally competent Food Shelf, Asian Meals on Wheels, Family Support and Refugee Resettlement. When the needs identified are not provided by Neighborhood House, referrals to other organizations are provided. Neighborhood House operates the largest single site food shelf in Ramsey County. In 2008, the Neighborhood House Food Shelf had over 7,500 visits by families in need and distributed over 554,000 pounds of food.

Last year the Greek Community at the U of M donated 1,755 lbs of food to Neighborhood House; this year we're hoping to increase by 25% to 2,195 lbs to help Twin City families in need for Thanksgiving. In addition to non-perishable food items, this year the option to make monetary donations is now available to support this great cause.

The chapters that collect the most non-perishable food items will be recognized at Greek Awards 2010. Additionally, the top sorority and fraternity houses that donate the most food items will win THE BLIND SIDE t-shirts and other great prizes (http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/theblindside/).
