I am running the 2013 Pittsburgh Marathon to raise money and goats for Haiti H2O. All donors get access to my blog. Please donate!
The Haiti H2O Goat Project is a new livestock exchange program to aid the people in Baissin Caiman, Haiti and now a new goat project in Plain Matin, Haiti.
Baissin Caiman is a community of about 7,000 people tucked between the hills and the Caribbean Sea in southwestern Haiti. Life is hard in the countryside; the only jobs available are tending small gardens and cutting trees to make charcoal. The average income for people is less than $150 a year.
One of the best ways to increase the income of an area is to increase the number of livestock in that area. This project will help break the crippling poverty of the area through gifts of goats. Those who receive goats will pass on that goat’s offspring to others in the community, supplying food and income far beyond the initial gift
The long-term goal of this project is to increase the income of the people in Baissin Caiman so that they can send their children to school, go to the medical clinic when they get sick, and create a more livable community for themselves, while simultaneously providing a sustainable food source.
Would you like to purchase a full-grown female goat or a baby goat for a family in Baissin Caiman?
Donations make it possible for HatiH2O to sponsor this project and many other sustainable projects in Haiti.
