We are excited to announce 2013 Highland View Elementary School (HVES) Read-A-Thon! The 2013 READ-A-THON will help raise money for the HVES PTA and all of its wonderful programs supporting our students and teachers.

Some of these PTA sponsored events include Cultural Arts Assemblies, Teacher Support programs, After-school enrichment scholarships, Spring Carnival, Bingo Nights, Heart and Healthy Dance and much, much more!

The Read-A-Thon will also encourage our children to read and promote reading. And this is what is most important! The Read-A-Thon begins on February 22nd and will conclude on March 15th, 2013. An author visit and prize drawings are planned for the week of March 18th.

How does my child/student participate in the Read-A-Thon?

Your child will be asked to turn in his/her reading log/homework by the classroom teacher. Classroom teachers will issue raffle tickets for completed reading logs/assignments. Each child will be able to collect a total of 3 raffle tickets. These tickets will be used for a raffle drawing of unique prizes donated by our own wonderful HVES faculty and staff. The grand prize will be the opportunity for one student from K-2 and one student from 3-5 to be Principal for the Day!

How do I support my child/student for the Read-A-Thon?

• Encourage your child to read nightly and complete his/her reading log/homework.
• Make sure your child returns the reading log/homework to school each week.
