The Mentees are Coming - Summer 2012 In our fourth year, ACT will be bringing its largest group of mentees from South Africa yet!

Active Compassion Transforms (ACT) is changing the lives of underprivileged youth in the developing world. We currently have a program in Cape Town, South Africa wherein high school students are mentored online by caring New Yorkers. The interACT Mentor Program covers topics like academic achievement, life skills, and community involvement.

ACT then sponsors a trip to New York City for students graduating from the interACT Program. The trip enables students to meet their mentors in-person for the first time. We also arrange a couple days of job shadowing in their chosen future professions as well as a career panel with New York professionals. Their time in New York also allows them to experience life and culture in the Big Apple!

The trips in previous years was a life-changing element for interACT graduates. Hear how the trip impacted their lives from the students themselves- http://www.vimeo.com/11566467 Many who thought they'd never finish high school are now in college! Help us to continue changing lives! Your impact goes far beyond their stay in NYC.
