2010 Tennis, Reading and Healthy Activities

SPUT's Life Skills programming includes reading after the on-court lessons. We need to raise $17,200 to support the reading program in 2010.

In 2009, SPUT piloted a Reading Program across 8 of its summer locations. The program was wildly successful and exposed over 830 kids to reading during the summer months. SPUT Instructors were trained by the Minnesota Council for Literacy and worked with the kids following their tennis activities on-court.

The program was a voluntary program, so we were delighted with the excitement that the children showed for the program. Age appropriate books were chosen for each of the different age groups. These books supported the Life Skills topics that were addressed during the kid's lessons. It was simply amazing to watch the kids progress through the summer.

During the summer of 2010, we want to expose even more kids to this Reading Program. An estimated, $17,200 is needed to extend the program to another 8 sites. Our hope is to be able to provide this programming to over 1,500 Saint Paul youth.

Thank you for all of your continued support :)
