This performance piece dramatizes the history of 20th and 21st-century genocide and highlights key people whose bold actions and words can inspire others to activism. Ordinary people can do extraordinary things, and we hope that this production will encourage people to stand up against genocide.
We hope that schools, religious institutions, and other groups will be interested in staging their own performances of this material.
This is a 'readers' theater' piece based on anti-genocide ‘upstanders,’ people who chose to fight against genocide in spite of often-insurmountable odds. None of these people envisioned themselves as heroes but each one spoke up against injustices directed either to them or to others
The performance event includes multimedia effects presenting context and photos with additional narration dealing with genocide.
