Help us offer life-saving treatments to Tibetan children with congenital heart defects!
This fall, we have an amazing opportunity to embark on our first medical mission together as a married couple with an organization called "Touching Hearts." We have been invited to join an international team of experts traveling to Tibet to find and treat unreached rural children with congenital heart disease. This team will also continue reaching out to the community and training the local physicians in these efforts.
Why are we doing this? Tibetan children have the highest rate of congenital heart disease in the world, most likely due to the high altitude and other yet undetermined factors. Through fixing their hearts, "Touching Hearts" has been able to share God’s love, grace and compassion to thousands of families in one of the most spiritually charged and inaccessible regions of the world. The project has already screened over 15,000 children and provided life-saving treatments to over 250, with many more waiting for the resources to be treated. The project has also been instrumental in a recent milestone: a Tibetan-born doctor became the first to close a heart defect in her home country!
Will you please consider praying for "Touching Hearts," possibly once a week? Also, will you consider donating to this effort? In addition to the travel costs, we are raising money for the children that we have already found with heart defects who will hopefully be treated during this upcoming trip.
This is our first step together in what we see as a lifelong calling with this organization. We invite you to partner with us on this journey! In short:
PURPOSE: To spread God’s love and grace through treating congenital heart disease in Tibetan children.
DATES: September 20 through October 10, 2010
OUR PRAYER REQUESTS: The kids and their families! Also, political stability, health & safety, funding.
