Igniting leadership and power to win change in the tradition of Paul and Sheila Wellstone

Wellstone Action Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, is one of the nation’s leading training centers for progressive leadership development, citizen activism, and community organizing. Created in 2003 to continue the public leadership, advocacy, and community organizing legacy of the late U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone and Sheila Wellstone, our strategic goal is to catalyze a new generation of leaders and organizations to successfully contest for power and win change in public policy, government, and community.

We work with people from every state in the country, with a particular focus on Minnesota. We teach and inspire college students, survivors of domestic violence, leaders in the American Indian community, nonprofit staff and volunteers, advocacy campaign organizers, teachers, climate change activists, new Americans, and more.

Wellstone Action Fund has become a national clearinghouse for progressive movement best practices and training in the skills necessary to be more effective on such critical issues as global climate change, health care, worker rights, green jobs, racial justice, voter engagement, immigration, domestic violence, and issues impacting young people. We’ve trained over 30,000 people from all 50 states through our eight leadership and civic engagement training programs, including national policy leaders, citizen activists, campaign managers, and grassroots organizers. We’ve also trained five U.S. Representatives and over 300 state legislators, local commissioners, school board members, and other officials.

The Wellstone Action Fund is the 501c(3) sister organization of Wellstone Action. Contributions to the Wellstone Action Fund are tax deductible.
