Wayside House, Inc.
A US registered nonprofit

St Louis Park, MN USA
Wayside House empowers women to recover sobriety, identity, home and community.

Established in 1954, Wayside House is one of the nation’s oldest treatment centers devoted exclusively to the needs of women. Wayside House began as the vision of Sarah Mary “Sally” DeVay, a Honeywell employee who created a home for women who had “fallen by the wayside” and energized the business community, psychiatric professionals, and faith communities to help. For these first women and girls suffering from homelessness and unemployment, Wayside House was often the only home they had ever known. After several years of providing room and board to women in a small house in North Minneapolis, Wayside’s Board of Directors determined that most residents who had been homeless were involved with alcohol or drugs.

Wayside House Programs
• The Wayside Treatment Center is an MI/CD (mentally ill/chemically dependent) program for women whose substance abuse is complicated by underlying mental health issues. Services are provided in both residential and nonresidential settings.
• Wayside Incarnation House is a residential parenting and recovery support program offering up to one year of 24-hour supervised housing for mothers in recovery and their children. Group parenting and life skills classes plus one-on-one parent coaching provide support for mothers seeking reunification with their children.
• Wayside Supportive Housing is a safe, affordable permanent housing option for single women who have a serious commitment to sobriety and their children. 20 units (located in a residential neighborhood of St. Louis Park) and four scattered-site apartments are available. Individual case management and group activities support women’s choice to live sober and help them continue to work toward their goals.
