VOLUNTEER NH

Volunteer NH is a unique non-profit. With a mission to promote the tradition of volunteer service in New Hampshire our work has expanded to inlcude national as well as local initiative and that role is always expanding.

Some of the work we are most proud of are the responses to the natural disasters of 2006-2008. During this time emergency preparedness programs built by Volunteer NH responded and aided first responders when their resources were not enough.

More specifically the most needy family numbering approximatly 700 New Hampshire citizens were directly helped by VOAD , at the time a newly formed program.

Aside response to disaster Volunteer NH is also very proud of its volunteer recognition and training events.

The Spirit of NH Awards commendates outstanding New Hampshire citizens for their commitments to volunteer work. Awards are given out by category and one recipient also recieves the Spirit of New Hampshire Award, the highest honor of the ceremony. Chosen by a panel of volunteers the awards symbolizes New Hampshire's volunteerism spirit.

The Governor's Conference on Volunteerism is a annual conference that predates Volunteer NH. Originally run by the Office of the Governor the conference trains volunteers, volunteer managers and those interesting in volunteerism in New Hampshire on the challenges and changes facing the indutry in New Hampshire. The Outstanding Volunteer Manager of the Year Awards, as old as the conference itself, is presented by the Governor during the conference. Awarded by leadership, and commitment to volunteerism the award highlights an induvidual as an example for others.

Aside from Volunteer NH's programs dependent on supplementary funds it also administers AmeriCorps*State programs, as the New Hampshire Commission for National & Community Service. All AmeriCorps programs are funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
