United Way of Freeborn County collaborates to connect people, resources and ideas to create a thriving community characterized by measurable and long lasting improvements to education, income and health.
United Way supports 33 programs in Freeborn County which meet a variety of needs including: *Support and childcare for adults who are preparing for their GED, learning English and developing job skills *Healthy activites for children and adults *Opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities *Counseling services for people who can't afford to pay (marital, family, individual) *Job skills and coaching for people with disabilities *Drug, alcohol and tobacco prevention programs and educational materials *Support and guidance for parents *Support and education for victims of crime and people affected by natural and man made disasters *Educational program for offenders of domestic violence, partner checks and parenting education *Leadership experiences for children *Counseling services for veterans and their family members *Emergency child care services and 24-hour phone line for parent support *Disaster response and emergency services, providing food, shelter and necessities *Homeless shelter and financial stability program *Transportation and chore services for seniors so they may remain independent *Nutritious meals for seniors and people who are on a fixed income *Quality childcare and preschool programs for families on a fixed income *Volunteer services and social events for retired community members
