Mission

The Art of Elysium is a Los Angeles based non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, founded in 1997, that encourages artists to dedicate their time and talent to under-served, at risk, and hospitalized children whose lives are constantly disrupted by hardship or chronic and often terminal illness. Every week we bring hands on workshops, led by local artists, free of charge to these children.

Programs

Mark Taper & Johnny Mercer Artists Program is a multi-disciplinary Artist-In-Residence Program at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Since 1997, The Art of Elysium has provided weekly guest artists, musicians, comediennes, actors and photographers to continue the on-going work of this program. Additionally, The Art of Elysium regularly participates in special events such as holiday programs and literacy week.

Girl Talk was established at Children's Hospital Los Angeles to help adolescent girls (10-13 years old) who have facial disfigurement and scarring due to medical conditions. Beginning in 2003, The Art of Elysium has provided volunteers to this program for various self-esteem and creative workshops.

The Artists Exchange Program was founded on the belief that by teaching emerging artists the power of giving through our programs, we can help foster a lifelong love of community service. We offer artists the opportunity to sign a "volunteer contract" with the organization. In turn, we showcase them to the community at one of our special events, or through one of our special projects. It's a win-win. Not only are we raising awareness and funds for the Art of Elysium, we are also supporting the artists that make our programs possible.
