SPECIAL STRIDES

It is called the “farm” to most, but for 102 special needs children it is the home of Special Strides a non-profit organization in Monroe, New Jersey dedicated to improving the lives of children with physical and developmental disabilities. At Special Strides our horses, therapists and volunteers are our hero’s. For a child with Cerebral Palsy or Autism the therapy provided can improve a child’s muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination and self confidence in ways you cannot imagine. At Special Strides the horse is the child’s companion. Children who ride in our program show improvement in their physical, cognitive, social and emotional well being. Having a child with a challenge can often find the family facing a financial struggle to meet the demands of their care. At Special Strides it is our mission to make sure that all children with special needs have the opportunity to experience our program regardless of their parent’s financial situation. Therefore, we have made a commitment to help raise funds to offset the financial burden that our families incur. All money raised goes to benefit the Steven Werthan Memorial Fund.
