We empower American Indian women and families to exercise their cultural values and integrity while advocating for justice and equity.

The Minnesota Indian Women's Resource Center (MIWRC) is a non-profit community organization located in the Phillips neighborhood of south Minneapolis. Established in 1984 by four local Native women, MIWRC provides holistic social services, family empowerment programming, and community education to American Indian women, their families, and allies in the broader community. Our Mission is to empower American Indian women and families to exercise their cultural values and integrity, and to achieve sustainable life ways, while advocating for justice and equity. Our Vision is to be focused and collaborative leaders in building intergenerational hope, health, cultural prosperity, and education for American Indian families.

MIWRC currently offers 14 direct-serivce programs through seven agency departments. All services are created in response to the voices of community elders and the women we serve, reviews of pertinent research and best practices, and a belief in innovative approaches based on cultural strengths. Our program models are designed to form an interconnected "circle of service" to address the complicated individual, family, community, and public policy issues that affect our urban American Indian client population.

MIWRC is a phenomenal organization that meets the critical safety and support needs of American Indian women and their families. They are leaders in drawing attention to the issue of sex trafficking in our communities, and in identifying and responding to Native victims' needs.
