Junior League of Minneapolis

For more than 85 years, the Junior League of Minneapolis has played a pivotal role in the Minneapolis community. Each year, we train and empower hundreds of women in the areas of volunteerism and leadership to become the civic leaders of our community and our world. As a result, the Junior League of Minneapolis serves as a needed source of well-trained volunteers and acts as a catalyst for positive change through alliances with many other non-profit organizations in our community.

Here are a few examples of how your gift can make a difference:

* $25 provides food for one weekend to 8 needy children who are receiving their only weekend nutrition through food provided by Backpack Buddies.

* $50 buys books and activity supplies for children participating in Reading Circles, a monthly reading program at Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery and local under served schools.

* $100 provides 50-75 used books for children who do not have their own books. The Books 4 Kids program fosters early childhood education development.

* $250 enables Kids in the Kitchen to continue to expand and broaden their community kitchen events aimed at reducing childhood obesity.

* $500 buys new books for the children who do not have a parent to read to them on a consistent basis and are trying to maintain a close connection with their parent through the Between the Lines program.

* $1,000 sponsors a membership-wide training session as part of our monthly Training & Leadership Development series, building informed, capable leaders to benefit our community.

The community projects established by the JLM have been diverse and far-reaching. From the support of the Children’s Protective Society (now Family and Children’s Service) through volunteer time and financial means for over 20 years, to founding the Curative Workshop to assist crippled children, to helping to develop the Children’s Theater over the course of four decades, to the creation of the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery and Free Arts for Abused Children of Minnesota, and to being a major partner in the development of Success by 6 with United Way, the Junior League of Minneapolis makes a significant positive impact on our community.
