Working on tomorrow's energy solutions with today's leaders.
Our mission is to accelerate the transition to a renewable and low-carbon energy system by bringing together key public and private leaders from across the Midwest to: Develop consensus on needed policy reforms and see them become law; Catalyze development and demonstration of promising technologies; Identify, and sometimes manage, high priority research that could speed commercialization of such technologies; and, Deliver targeted public education and outreach on the challenges and benefits of next-generation energy options.
Our work results in the best minds on all sides of vital issues coming together to produce policies, technologies and practices that work for people, businesses and our environment. Perhaps most importantly people and communities are recharged through greater energy independence and the health, prosperity and security that accompany it.
The Great Plains Institute moves the energy debate forward through our various projects: Bioenergy and Transportation, biogas, Spiritwood Station and Industrial Park, work with the Midwestern Governors Association, Energy Efficiency and Conservation, Transmission, Energy Storage, Smart Grid, GreenStep Cities, the Energy Choice Simulator, the GREET Companion, Carbon Capture and Storage and Enhanced Oil Recovery.
