Mission

The Gift of Adoption Fund is a 501c3 nonprofit agency, whose mission is to provide adoption grants to give children a family forever. The Fund removes financial barriers to adoption, allowing more parents to choose adoption as a way to build their family.

Programs

Any U.S. citizen adopting from anywhere in the world (domestic or international) who has an approved home study from a licensed agency or social worker is eligible to apply. Financial need must be demonstrated. The number of biological children or adopted children in the home does not impact eligibility. Gift of Adoption does not consider an applicant?s marital status, gender, race, creed, national origin, religion, or sexual orientation when reviewing applications. Since our inception in 1996, the Gift of Adoption fund has been increasing the number and value of the adoption grants we provide annually. The Fund?s expense for fy06 totaled $585,000, with 76% of our expense going toward our grant program. Through the generosity of our founders and contributors we have given more than 400 grants, representing more than $1,500,000 to those stepping forward to answer the call of adoption. The grant amount varies depending on the specific situation of each applicant. The average award given in 2006 was $3,500. Currently, the maximum grant is $7,500.
