EMERGE is a social enterprise focused on developing human capital by connecting disadvantaged individuals with economic opportunities. This work takes place in four related areas – workforce, supportive housing, business ventures and community development – and it gets done by activating a network of partners in the public and private sectors. Like any venture firm we compete, market, invest, manage, develop business and take strategic risks. Like any enterprise, we have to show value in the marketplace to survive. Unlike most enterprises, though, our Big Objective reaches beyond product and revenue. Our Big Objective is to power social momentum, the community benefit that accrues through sustained collaboration and ready access to economic opportunity.
The mission of EMERGE is to Invest in people through social enterprise
In 2008, Emerge assisted over 1000 individuals to secure regular full time jobs, over 120 adults receive career skills training, over 500 youth and adults devlop job skills through transtional employment and more than 130 formerly homeless families secure safe housing and family supports.
