Join East Metro Women's Council in our mission to prevent and end homelessness with children through housing, resources and opportunity.
Each person experiencing homelessness has their own story. Some have recently lost their job, leaving them unable to pay rent, while others have much more significant barriers to stable housing. Many are children who don't know what happened, just that they no longer have a place to call home and don't know where they will be tomorrow.
With over 20 years of experience, East Metro Women's council operates three supportive housing programs in suburban Ramsey and Washington Counties which provide hope and opportunity for families facing homelessness.
For children, we provide a bed to sleep in, a yard to play in and a table on which to do homework. We provide learning enrichment programs and other activities to aid in their academic, social and emotional development.
For parents, we provide a safe environment in which their familiy can live while they work towards self-reliance and the support needed to help them reach their goals. Through our experienced Family Advocates, employment and education services, and skills training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), parenting, budgeting and tenant rights, parents are able to set goals and work towards a better future for themselves and their family.
In 2010, we served 91 adults and 228 children in our supportive housing programs. Of those:
