We desire to see Christ exalted around us
Like man’s need for salvation, so the church’s need for purity before God. Without salvation, man is lost to judgment. Without purity, the church is lost to the world. CHBC neither hides from eternity’s hard realities nor yawns at its promises but preaches and ministers in a spirit of truth and love. We do so with a desire to see Christ exalted in faraway lands, local communities, and healthy congregations around the world.
To act on these passions, we teach about and give heavily to international missions. At home, we seek to involve ourselves in our neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces. At church, we work through our own ministry, IX Marks Ministries, to communicate a biblical vision for churches hoping to honor God and live by His Word. These efforts to reach out to the world and the church are not ends in themselves. Rather, they are springboards by which we involve ourselves in the cause of the gospel.
Healthy Churches: 9Marks Ministries
9Marks communicates this vision through written material, including the foundational book Nine Marks of a Healthy Church, audio interviews, and an ever-expanding electronic library of book reviews and articles from thoughtful church leaders at www.9marks.org. Additionally, our pastor, Mark Dever, allots time each year to travel and speak on matters concerning the church. Through these efforts, we seek to encourage modern day churches to build their lives together on principles gleaned from the Word of God.

International Missions: Access Partners
ccess Partners supports the work of church planters in the “10/40 window,” the area of the world that contains the largest population of non-Christians, extending from 10 degrees to 40 degrees North of the equator and stretching from North Africa across to China. Access Partners helps church planters in this part of the world use business as a means of access to otherwise “closed” countries. Capitol Hill Baptist has financially supported the work of Access Partners and joined with Access Partners by helping mobilize members in the business community to be part of the effort. CHBC members have served on a variety of projects with a variety of commitment levels, all with the aim of directly serving church planters as they take the gospel to the ends of the earth.

Home Ministry: Angel Tree Network, ESOL, Community Work
Our Community Ministry works to involve members in a number of local ministries, including AngelTree, a program to aid families with a parent in prison, the Capitol Hill Crisis Pregnancy Center, Central Union Mission, and Cornerstone Community School. With the Word faithfully preached and taught, members are equipped to go into the community as witnesses and specific ministries rise up to take the gospel to Capitol Hill. It is our prayer that this witness would grow in scope, in intensity, and in effect as God calls His people to Himself.
