American Relief Agency for the Horn of Africa (ARAHA) is a non-profit humanitarian organization founded in Minnesota on September 7 ,2000 by a group of concerned advocates and service providers. ARAHA’ has become a tool to help the poorest people in the world.
Why the Horn of Africa?
The Horn of Africa became the land of Hunger, war, famine, and disease in this century. Up to present day, ignorance, diseases, and poverty are on rise. The Horn of Africa is considered the poorest regions in the world because of ongoing wars, famine, disease, and natural disasters such as drought. These conditions are even more complicated with the rise of unstable governments, lack of basic infrastructure such as roads, water systems, and electricity.
What is the Horn of Africa?
Horn of Africa is geographical term used to identify a portion of East Africa. The countries in the Horn of Africa are: Somalia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Programs:
ARAHA provides Humanitarian Aid to the needy in the Horn of Africa through the following programs:-
- Food distribution and other emergency aid to areas of humanitarian crisis.
- Educational projects such as building schools, distribution of school supplies, Books, computers labs for schools, and sponsoring students.
-Building shelters for displaced families
- Digging community Water wells
-Orphan sponsorship
- Empowering poor families with tools that generate income for their families such as water tanker, milking cow, milking goat …etc.
